Introduction and Welcome

Hello and welcome to the Service for CLC blog. This is a site that I have created to house some of the projects my students are doing in their Service Learning class, on off-shoot of a new course I developed a few years ago titled "Online Social Networking" taught through Central Lakes College(CLC) in Brainerd, Minnesota.

In the Online Social Networking class, students explore the appropriate and effective communication techniques and best practices for social media in the age of digital identies. We analyze various web2.0 tools such Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Delicious, Playlist.com and Shelfari.

In the service learning class, students who have self-selected to take on this additional course credit, apply the techniques they've studied in the Online Social Networking class to benefit others through service learning projects.

Since both classes are completely online, a sharing portal seemed necessary for bringing this all back together in a single, meaningful, and accessible spot which could be more easily shared or networked. So that's how this blog came into being.

If you have more questions about the content, the projects or the classes referred to in this blog, please feel free to contact me, the course instructor and blog administrator, Kari Frisch.

Thanks!
